Picnic Point Cottage is a second storey addition to an existing period home. On a tight suburban block the extension maximises the space available to provide utility and longevity for a young family on a modest budget. In incision was made through the dining area with the existing pitched ceiling following a floating stair up to the new master bedroom, ensuite and sitting room. A strategically placed triangular window follows the roof line capturing canopy views of silver birch trees whilst filling the dining area with soft eastern light.

An effort in restraint, this careful addition aims to complement and enhance the existing period home whilst catering for the demands of a growing family.
